Micro cement offers a wide range of decorative possibilities Walls, floors and also furniture (worktops, tables, etc…) can be covered.

It is the new material of choice for designers, and it is popping up in retail stores, trendy restaurants, offices and homes everywhere. Micro cement appeared and became very popular in France under the name of ” Beton cire” which means waxed concrete, and it is in France where Dimitri Koubi started to apply micro cement 12 years ago.

Idea Creations micro cement has been developed in partnership with a french manufacturer – AD LUCEM –  to create this look and appearance of natural polished waxed concrete.

Ad Lucem’s microcement mortar is as hardwearing but thinner than a conventionnal concrete ( 1mm walls , 2mm floors ). Therefore, and because of it’s exceptional bonding properties, it can be applied over most existing substrates and it is possible.

To lay it on top of existing tiles and most other substrates, without having to break or remove them.The finish, smooth or textured, can be polished or left matt, and is available in a wide range of premixed colours, which gives a huge time saving and consistency.

MICRO CEMENT FAQS

  • Yes, micro cement is waterproof. It contains special polymers that allow it to be waterproof. Polymer’s main uses used to be to protect ship hulls from corrosion. Therefore, the concrete itself will be resistant to water. There are also special varnishes available to apply over dried cement to add extra protection from moisture.

    Micro cement can be used both for the finishing of floors and shower walls, basins, kitchens and outdoor surfaces.

  • Micro cement can be used in both interior and exterior spaces due to its extremely durable and highly water-resistant nature. It can be applied in bathrooms, kitchens and outside bbq and pool areas.

  • Micro cement should be treated just like any other natural surface, cleaning spills and protecting the surface with care your micro cement will look as good as new. Please contact us for the initial cleaning process for newly applied micro cement and advised cleaning agents.

  • Yes, it can cover tiles and other materials. Providing the tiles have been checked for any cracks, movement or water damage. Micro cement can be applied by one of the Idea Creations team using the appropriate materials and equipment for preparation.
